The Christina Sports Bra is a unique style sports bra that caters to lift larger cup sizes. The bra is supportive with firm stretch fabrics of 20-30%. Fabrics with stretch over 30% will not support larger breasts. For fabrics with less stretch, sizing up both the band and cup will be necessary. Since the waistband shape lends to low pressure on the ribcage, it’s ideal for someone who suffers from reflux or heartburn. The support is all in the body of the bra and less in the band, yet the Christina Sports bra can be worn as a daily wear bra without the feeling of being under dressed at work.

Versatility Plus! The Christina Sports Bra pattern pieces are interchangeable with the Jackie and Laurel Sports Bra pattern pieces, meaning you can use the front of one with the back of the other, or interchange the waistband styles for 2 very different style options!

The Christina Sports Bra covers a total of 182 different sizes from a 28A through a 52N. Detailed instructions are provided for changing grades and elastic sizes. This pattern was designed to work with our 1 3/8” waistband elastic coded E32B8S or E32W8S for both waistband and straps.

NEW! We just released a flat cup option for a bilateral mastectomy and a combination cup for a unilateral mastectomy. The flat cup option can be utilized for individuals without breast tissue. The combination cup utilizes the flat cup on one side and a shaped cup on the other.

Determining Your Pattern Size
This pattern was drafted based on the stretch of our amazing 1 3/8” or 35mm plush strap/waistband elastic. To test whether your elastic matches the stretch that this pattern was designed for, place 2 pins on your elastic, exactly 5” or 12.5cm apart. Stretch the elastic to the fullest stretch, if you hit 10” or 25cm, your elastic matches mine. If you are using an elastic that is more restrictive of a stretch, with a stretch to 6 1/2” - 7 1/2” or 16cm - 19cm, add one band to the band measurement determined below by the chart.

To determine your size, measure your under bust snugly. Round to the nearest whole number and add 1” or 2” to get to the next even number. This is your band size. For example, you measure 32.5”, round up to 33 then add 1” for a 34 Band.
Take your full bust measurement in your best fitting bra. If the bra does not situate the breast tissue up (meaning they sag), then your measurements will not be correct. You may need some assistance to help hold the breast up to measure the fullest point of your bust. Take this measurement and round to the nearest whole number. The number of inches in difference from the band size and your full bust measurement relates to the bra cup size.

Supply List
Fashion Fabrics: Recommendation of spandex tricot, supplex spandex or similar athletic weight jerseys of 200-320 gsm (5-8 ounces). Pattern was designed for 20% stretch across the body, but works well for up to 30% stretch. For high impact and to restrict bounce, keep stretch in the length to under 20%.

Higher stretch and Spandex content over 20% may require sizing down the cup for more support on larger cup sizes. Scuba fabric can be used as it is very firm with very little stretch (I recommend going up one cup size if using scuba). With most stretch fabrics, be sure you have quality ballpoint or stretch needles in a size 90/14 or higher.

To create a more stabilized front, you can cut an additional layer of cut and sew foam and place between the layers. To utilize cut & sew foam, remove all seam allowances off of the pattern pieces. Seams can then be zigzaged together, butting the edges together. This construction step is not demonstrated in these directions.

Lining Fabrics: Recommendation of spandex tricot, power net or wicking or absorbent fabrics such as bamboo and hemp jersey may also serve nicely as a lining fabric. Weight 120-250 gsm depending on support needed.

1/4” or 6 mm Elastic: Plain elastic or lingerie elastic measuring 1/4” or 6 mm in width is used on the neckline.

1 3/8” or 35 mm Plush Elastic: Designed for use with our 35 mm plush elastic available in black or white. Other elastics are suitable and the width can be altered.

File Types
All digital files are zipped PDF files (Adobe 6). We have discovered that individuals running Windows Vista or older may not have a reader that is compatible with this file format. Upon request, we can save as an older version of Adobe 4 or 5. The layer function does not work in older versions of Adobe.

PDF File Sizes
Three paper sizes are included with each pattern size: Letter size/A4 (9.7"x7.75"), A1 (22"x33") or A0 (33"x46"), and a Projector File. Not all patterns are in A0, as they fit on one A1 page.

Printed Pattern Options
Printed pattern and directions are now more accessible. All patterns are printed on ledger-sized paper and are grouped by four band sizes. There is a one band size overlap between each printed pattern set. Directions are printed in color, but the patterns are in black & white. For larger wholesale purchases, you can select the wholesale option which include 5 patterns for the specified size set. This is ideal if you are teaching workshops or have a small store and wish to stock our patterns.

I felt compelled to comment, nay, RAVE! again about this bra. I spent almost 10 straight very hot sweaty hours helping prepare my mom to move - clearing out basement, packing, moving furniture, carrying out heavy stuff, going up and down hill and clambering over a stone wall to the curb waaaay too may times to count... and this bra was fantastic! No binding, cutting, chafing, pain in a 38J. Never have I owned something so comfortable and well-suited to my body in overdrive with moderate impact mode. My only regret was that it wasn't washed and dried in time for day 2 of packing and organizing. Thanks again Jennifer!

This plus size sports bra pattern works for me. I'm working on making the cups separate but at least I can make it with easily found fabrics and notions and it's not a difficult sew. I no longer have to try and see if there are any plus size sports bras in my size! I have a smaller band and a larger cup and those are practically impossible to find. Thanks for making this!

Forgive me if I gush - this is the most comfortable sport-style racer-back bra in the universe! No exaggeration: 1. under bust wrap band feature is super comfortable and non-binding 2. wide, covered straps do not bind, chafe or hurt tender shoulders (even after two shoulder surgeries) 3. accommodates large (38J) bust size without creating uniboob or total compression attempts and finally 5. very comfortable for lounge, sleep or casual wear. I sewed them up without seeing blog videos, but they are a great guide - I was too eager to sew it up and didn't stop to look first.

I love the Christina Sport Bra pattern. The cup sizing is great and accurate, the fit is fantastic and it is so comfortable. I thought the cross over front band was pretty for looks, but now that I have made it, I don't want any other band, it makes it sit so nicely around the body and stays in place all day. I also found the straps very comfortable and the right width. Best sports bra pattern and the only one that goes up that high in cup sizing! Of course, PDF is the best since you can download and get sewing as soon purchase.I like the option to print color or black and white (using black and white setting on my printer). Sometimes color is just better on bra patterns. I also like that there is a You Tube video "sew along" to go with the instructions.
